Rumi Tank Re-Launch!
Just in time for warmer weather, and perfect for at-home lounging, I’m thrilled to announce that our Rumi Tank pattern is back in the shop! This is exactly the kind of wardrobe staple everyone needs in their closet. It easily transitions from pajamas, to daytime layering, to yoga class, to an evening out.
The Rumi Tank is a feminine and modern racerback tank dress and top, that will be a quick sew for both experienced sewers and those new to sewing with knits. Both views have a deep scoop neck front and narrow racerback, all finished with thin bands. The Rumi Tank Dress is fitted through the upper body and bust, then flares to an a-line dress that lands at a midi length. The Rumi Tank Top is fitted in the upper body, following your figure with a nipped in waist and slight flare at the hip. An optional chest pocket can be added to either view.
I originally designed the Rumi Tank for entirely selfish purposes, and that was so I had a curvy-body friendly tank top to wear to yoga class, but it really is so much more than just that. The Rumi Tank provides an effortlessly chic layer for every closet. The top can be worn with shorts and boots for a hike, or the dress can be styled with chic flat slides and a jean jacket for a date night, or either the top or dress lengths can be worn at home for elegant loungewear.
If you are familiar with the original version that I launched in 2016, there are a few differences in the new version. The top is nearly identical, with just a little cleaning up here and there, and an optional chest pocket included in the new version. The dress however went through a few alterations. The biggest change is that it has been lengthened to a midi length, and the contrasting band at the hem has been removed. I found that it was often too short for my personal tastes, and I nearly always wanted to sew it in one color, so these changes were made. In addition, it is still swingy and full, but slightly less so than the previous version. Once it was lengthened to a midi length, the fullness felt a bit excessive, so it was brought in a bit.
Like all our re-launches, this pattern has also been expanded into additional sizes! So in addition to sizes 0-18, there are now also 20/22, 24/26, and 28/30 sizes offered. (Please note that due to the lockdown I was unable to photograph these new sizes on a model. I will be shooting these photos as soon as it is safe to do so.)
If you had the previous version and would like the updated files, simply contact us with proof of purchase and I will get you the updated files free of charge. For the proof of purchase, please send any of the following so I can look up your order: the four digit order number, the date of the purchase, the email used to make the purchase, and your full name.
Thank you as always for the incredible support of my little business! I hope each of you are well and healthy in these difficult times, and if sewing is providing a sense of solace for you, I hope my patterns, tutorials, photos, etc are helping the days go by.
And an enormous thank you to my beautiful friend Rose Pearlman for not only modeling for these photos, but styling them, shooting them, and doing it all with such kindness and understanding.
