Ramona Dress Virtual Workshop

Ramona Dress Virtual Workshop

$225.00

I was fortunate to be among the testers for the Ramona Dress, one of the first patterns from Spaghetti Western Patterns. I wear mine all the time, & it stands as both a chic and unique dress to wear, while also being incredibly comfortable. A rare combo! It has a rounded yoke that’s gathered up at the neck with elastic, gathered sleeves, & full dress. You can choose the length of your dress & sleeve, & also opt to insert a ruffle at the yoke &/or at the hem.

This is a 5-part class, with 9 hours of class time.

Workshop Dates:

  • Thursday, May 23, from 6:30-7:30pm EASTERN - Prep class

  • Friday, May 31, from 6:30-8:30pm EASTERN - Construction class 1

  • Saturday, June 1, from 12-2pm EASTERN - Construction class 2

  • Friday, June 7, from 6:30-8:30pm EASTERN - Construction class 3

  • Saturday, June 8, from 12-2pm EASTERN - Construction class 4

What You Will Learn:

  • Creating & sewing gathers

  • Sewing a channel with elastic

  • Using a commercial sewing pattern

  • Reading & understanding commercial sewing pattern instructions

  • Printing & assembling a digital sewing pattern

  • Taking your measurements

Skill Level:

  • Advanced beginner & beyond: This workshop is perfect for someone who has sewn a number of beginner projects in the past & wants to take on something a little more difficult. Please note this is not a “learn to sew” class.

Supply List:

  • The Ramona Dress pattern

  • 2.5-4.5 yards of light to medium weight woven fabric, depending on the width of your fabric, the size, & the view you are selecting. Ideal fabrics are cotton lawn, linen, rayon, & blends of all of those.

    • Please note: the pattern is sized for a 5’2” person, so plan ahead & purchase additional yardage if you are taller than 5’2”.

    • Also note: if you want to add a ruffle at the hem of the dress, that is not accounted for in the yardage amount. Purchase additional yardage if you want a hem ruffle.

  • Thread

  • 2 yards of 1/2” wide elastic

    • The pattern calls for enough elastic to go around your neck, both biceps, and 6” to spare. 2 yards is an estimate.

Tool List:

  • Sewing machine with straight stitches & zigzag stitches (or a serger for seam finishing in place of zigzag stitches)

  • Iron & ironing board

  • Sewing needle for your fabric weight & type

  • Full sized scissors & small scissors for trimming (highly recommended)

  • Seam gauge or small ruler

  • Water soluble marking tool

  • Clear ruler, at least 2” x 18” (for putting your pattern pieces on grain during cutting)

  • Flexible tape measure

Please note: tools & supplies are sold separately & are not included in the class fee
