Introducing the Sew With Me Capsule Collection
I am so excited to announce that the capsule collection I designed exclusively for Sew New Magazine's Sew With Me series is now available for purchase!
Sew News Magazine has a new series called Sew With Me, where they have designers create exclusive patterns to be sold as PDF patterns through their site. They also produce 30-minute videos where the designer walks through some of the steps of each pattern.
For my series, they asked me to create a sundress, a circle skirt, a shift dress, and a tunic. For the shift and skirt, I wanted to keep them simple and straightforward since I don't currently offer any patterns (outside of my books) that are really great for super new sewers. For the tunic and sundress, I infused a lot more of my personality into them, making the collection as a whole a nice group of wardrobe staples.
Below is a bit about each specific pattern. Please note that these are PDF patterns only, and they can only purchased through Sew News. So any questions about your purchase should be directed to the customer service team at Sew News, since I am not handling that part. Thanks for understanding!
Also, huge thanks to Alexia Abegg and the lovely ladies at Cotton + Steel Fabrics for supplying all the fabric for this project! The set looked amazing thanks to all your amazing prints. Thank you! Okay, without further ado, here's a recap of the patterns! I hope you love them and I cannot wait to start seeing them sewn up!
The Josie Sundress
The Josie Sundress has clean modern lines, while filled with elegant details. The bodice features a square neckline in the front and back, and ends at an empire waist seam. It is fitted with darts up the back and a series of darts that radiate from the center front.
The skirt front has a center box pleat with a pleat on either side facing the center front seam. The skirt back has four pleats facing the center back seam. The side seams feature in-seam pockets and the hem lands just above the knee.
The Anya Skirt
The Anya Skirt is inspired by the skirt worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1953 film Roman Holiday. It is a classic and timeless circle skirt.
The skirt features a narrow waistband that is lined and interfaced for structure. The skirt only has seams on the sides, and is closed up with a 9" invisible zipper. The hem is a narrow 1/4" and lands just above the knee. Perfect for featuring your favorite overall fabric print!
The East Side Tunic
The East Side Tunic is an elegant approach to casual dressing. Perfect for wearing over leggings or jeans for a quick pulled together look.
The tunic features two top stitched pin tucks from each shoulder to just above the bust, an optional flat Peter Pan collar on the front, with a neckline that is finished with self-made bias binding and a 3" slit opening at the neckline on the center front.
It also has short set-in sleeves, 6" side seam vents at the hem, and features a loose A-line shape that skims over the hips.
The Departure Shift
The Departure Shift is a classic shift dress that is ideal for all situations. The dress features a body-friendly A-line shape with a rounded neckline and bust darts.
There are short set-in sleeves, in-seam pockets in the side seams, and it's all closed up with an invisible zipper up the center back seam.
