Christine in France // A New Blog Series
I love spending time in France. Unless you’re new here, you probably knew that already. I’ve been visiting France regularly since 2009. That trip to France in 2009 was my first time in France, my first time in Europe, and unless you count the part of Canada that’s immediately on the other side of Detroit, my first time in another country. It was a lot. There were a lot of expectations, and a lifetime of hype build up. I was the teenage girl with posters of Notre Dame and Le Tour Eiffel on her walls along side posters of Prince and Duran Duran. The pressures of that first trip were real. But the unexpected happened: it lived up to the hype.
I was hooked. It was a drug and I wanted more. And more. And yet more still. So I kept returning, year after year. I’ve been to France now about a dozen times, staying anywhere from 1 week to 2 months at a time. Essentially going as frequently as I could swing it in my schedule, and staying as long as I could afford to do so.
Because of this, people started asking me for advice for their trips to France. I’m hardly an expert, but I’m always always up for talking about this topic. It also got me thinking: instead of writing a thesis for each and every person that asks me for advice, maybe I should do a series of posts on my blog. And here we are.
I already have an instagram account, called Christine in France. (Yes I know it’s rather close to the title of that show on Netflix, but let’s be clear, I created my account before Emily in Paris came to be, and I am not going to change it just because of the show.) I have my business account, which is for all things sewing, and I have a private personal account for general life stuff that’s only for close friends and family, but I needed a place to just post gratuitous images of France, and occasionally other travel destinations as well. Because, as understanding as my amazing friends and family are, even they don’t want tons of unsolicited photos of France lol. Which is how my Christine in France account came to be.
But even if you follow me there, I don’t post advice on that feed. I am probably not the only person who kinda forgot about blogs, but this seems like a perfect place to post this stuff. So right here on my long neglected blog, I’m going to handout some advice on where to stay and when to go, where to eat and drink, my favorite shops, and more. Is there something specific you want to learn about? Let me know in the comments! I’m happy to tell you what I know. Look for the first post shortly…
