Suvi Dress Virtual Workshop
Join me to learn how to sew the newest pattern from Named Patterns, the Suvi Dress. This dress has two views, one shorter with wide sleeves & a single drawstring at the waist. The longer view has cinched up sleeves with casings & ties, two drawstrings at the waist, & side seam vents. You can make either view in class, plus, you can also make the single tie version long, or the double tie version short! It’s all up to you!
This is a 4-part class, with 7 hours of class time.

SUPPLY LIST:
The Suvi Caftan Dress pattern (bust 29 7/8-52 3/4”) by Named Patterns.
2 1/4 - 4 1/2 yards of light to medium weight woven fabric. Required yardage depends on the size being sewn, the view chosen, & the width of your fabric. For an airy and voluminous look, pick a fabric without drape, such as cotton lawn or washed linen. For a more flowy and elegant result, choose a drapey fabric, such as rayon, silk, or satin.
The mini dress uses pre-made cording for the waist. If you want to use pre-made cording, you will need your waist circumference, plus 3/4 yard of cord. Alternatively, you can make your own, but you will need additional fabric to do that.
The maxi dress uses cording that we will make for the waist & shoulder ties. If you prefer to use pre-made cording, you will need your waist circumference twice, plus 3 3/4 yards. The yardage for making your own cording is figured into the yardage for the maxi dress.
The casings for the waist ties for both views is created by sewing 3/4” ribbon to the inside of the dress. This should be made of something soft so it can be gathered up comfortably. You can also choose to use bias binding instead of ribbon. The yardage quantity is based on the size being sewn. See the chart on page 3 of the instructions.
The casings for the shoulder ties for the maxi dress is created by sewing 1 5/8” wide ribbon to the shoulders. This should also be made of something soft so it can be gathered up comfortably. You will need a yard of 1 5/8” ribbon for the shoulders. If you cannot find ribbon this size, this can be made from fabric. I will discuss how to do this in class. If you plan to use your same fabric as the dress, be sure you have scraps in which to do so.

Workshop sessions will be recorded so students that get behind, or need to miss a session, can rewatch the previous lesson & catch up
The focus of my workshops are on construction & technique. Fit is discussed, but due to the nature of Zoom workshops, fitting instruction is limited
